Postmodern Pera

Pera is a historical neighborhood in Istanbul. Its origins go back to the earliest times in the city’s history but the more definitive changes began after the 17th century. During this time Pera became a district settled predominantly by Christian inhabitants, adorned with embassies belonging to European powers including the French and the Venetian and the elegant homes and palaces of foreign diplomats, resembling a European city.
